This is the latest book that I am working on – The Triple-Shot. For those of you who have read A Lifetime to Find Love and Sacred Surrender, this is Susan’s story – which introduces Josiah (I think y’all will be pleased with him). Here is a little snippet from The Triple-Shot!
Susan’s breathing abruptly came to a halt when the cowboy with his back to her quickly turned around at Tessa’s words. Never, never in the twenty-six years she’d been alive had she seen such a sight. The backside of Mr. Cowboy was nice, but what a sight the front offered. His dark skin enhanced cocoa brown eyes that sparkled from the small amount of overhead lights that the suddenly overcrowded bar provided. The stretch of his shirt confirmed Susan’s suspicions that beneath the piece of material lay muscle upon muscle. An oversize belt buckle the size of a small town drew her eyes to his nether regions unconsciously and left no room for her over active imagination. What lie in wait behind the denim kept her attention a little longer than she’d planned and the sound of Tessa’s laughter shook her from the trance this stranger put her under without thought. Susan felt the flush of her cheeks as her eyes traveled up to the cowboy’s, his pearly whites flashing as the corners of his mouth lifted into a smile as if her flustered state amused him. Susan shook off the image of her sprawled out beneath him and tried to focus on the words Tessa spoke to her.
I have been working on the next book after Sacred Surrender. As it stands now, the title is TRIPLE SHOT. This could most definitely change as we all know that sometimes the first title usually ends up changing during edits. With that being said, Triple Shot is Susan’s story. If you’ve read A Lifetime to Find Love, you know who she is. I love me some Susan. Josiah is an old college buddy of Rowan and Cade’s. While Rowan and Cade stayed in Long Beach to pursue their careers, Josiah had signed on the dotted line to serve time in the Marines. Now, after years of service to his country, Josiah has made his way back to Long Beach for a long overdue extended vacation. Little does he know when he walks into the Triple Shot, that a dark hair beauty would turn his world upside down and make the decision to return to Texas difficult to make.
Josiah’s shoulders shook as Susan watched him try to reign in his laughter unsuccessfully. He slipped her keys into his pocket, held his arm out toward the entrance to The Triple Shot, and waited until she obliged him. His relaxed stance as he waited for her to make a move only added to her already bad mood. She crossed her arms over her chest, let out a heavy sigh, and reluctantly walked past Josiah without a word. The bastard was cocky and although she would like him even less if he was a push over, she was in no mood to deal with an egotistical son of a bitch. The nerve of him to just assume that she would allow him to come home with her. Was she really that easy? Did she really come off as being a quick, easy lay for him?
I intended to post this yesterday, but got completely wrapped up in playing a video game with my son. Which in all honesty, was well worth it as I don’t get to spend as much time with my kiddos as I would like just goofing off. So, instead of posting my Six Sentence Sunday on Sunday, I am posting it on Monday.
A Lifetime to Find Love is my first release in a series. Currently there are two books out and one in the making. Sacred Surrender is the second book. In A Lifetime to Find Love, we are introduced to Tessa and Cade. Cade is the best friend to Tessa’s brother Rowan. The three of them have known each other since they were just kids. Tessa is a freelance photographer and Cade a private practice doctor. When a night out as friends turns into something neither Tessa or Cade intended, their relationship takes a turn neither of them expects. Can they have a romantic relationship and keep their friendship intact?
She couldn’t think. Tessa couldn’t form one coherent thought or sentence. She could only feel and everything felt right as she laid there with her head against Cade’s chest listening to the sound of his heartbeat. His breathing was erratic, her breathing not much more stable. She felt amazing. The world outside her bedroom didn’t exist, only she and Cade. Here, in her bedroom, lying in his arms was where she belonged, where they belonged and she reveled in it.
Before I post my Six Sentence Sunday, I would like to say a very Happy New Year to everyone. 2011 was a very exciting year for me in many ways, but especially in the literary sense. Two of my books were published, along with a story in an anthology. I am excited for what 2012 will reveal. I have several things in the works, including a few short stories to be posted here, so keep your eyes open. I also have set a goal to read AT LEAST 100 books and review them here.
Now for today’s Six Sentence Sunday. This has been taken from a story I am working on called Leesea’s Books and Babbles. This is a paranormal about Annalisa and Braeden.
Annalisa wrapped her arms tightly around herself. Suddenly the air around her became so cold, sucking all the heat from her body as her extremities began to numb. Sound ceased to reach her ears, and with the exception of an overwhelming sense of fear, she felt nothing…until she heard that familiar voice.
“Drake, Drake, Drake. Will you never learn your lesson?” Braeden’s voice filled the alley.
Annalisa felt her knees begin to buckle. Before her legs could give out on her, she pressed her shoulder to the alley wall. She refused to go down again.
Here is another excerpt from the first book in the Jackson Valley Series…
Walking across the gravel driveway to the hammock she’d just about fallen out of, was the epitome of male perfection. His strides were long and confident. He wore his wavy dark brown hair close to his head and he stood well over six feet tall. Stubble covered his perfectly chiseled jaw and the tight black t-shirt that stretched across his chest revealed as much as it could of what lay beneath it. The torn faded jeans he donned, wrapped flawlessly around his thighs like a second skin. It took every ounce of strength she could muster not to stare.
Jackson Valley Series ~ I started writing a new series….Cowboy Style. Who doesn’t love a hot, down to earth cowboy? Hell, even city girls are swept away by the black stetson, tight wranglers, and that southern drawl. Here is my six sentences from my first book in the series…it has yet to be titled.
“As Paige slid back into the hammock, she couldn’t take her eyes off Cort’s backside as him and Jake made their way to the back of the house. His wranglers fit his ass impeccably and the phrase “wrangler butts drive me nuts” played over in her mind. She realized she giggled out loud when Jake and Cort turned around, giving her a look of confusion. She waved a hand at them to dismiss her small, unintentional outburst, watching them saunter off toward the barn. Keeping her eyes fixed on the both of them, well actually on Cort, she reached for the glass of tea bringing it to her lips. What she wouldn’t give for a tall drink of him instead.”
